PA Computer Connections of Greensburg, Pennsylvania, has built a reputation as a full-service provider of customized computing solutions for homeowners and small to medium businesses and resellers. Even though they’d installed PCs as part of customers’ home stereo systems and built custom media solutions, they realized that growing demand for digital home applications required an entirely new, innovative way of marketing.

An Intel® Premier Provider, PA Computer Connections is converting and remodeling a two¬-story Colonial home next to their corporate headquarters, creating an interactive “digital home” showroom combining the latest Intel processors and technologies with the most advanced consumer electronics.

PA Computer Connections’ sales staff can take customers on personal tours for a personal hands-on experience, allowing customers to see how easy it can be to access and work with music, video, pictures, surveillance, Internet and Home Control functions from any screen anywhere in the home.

Founded in 1981, PA Computer Connections has established itself over the years as a “one stop shop” for the technology and PC needs of regional homeowners and businesses. As our Web site says, “If it involves technology, we can help you design, build, and maintain it.” Until recently, our company’s core media business was high-end media centers—typically for presentations, video or Internet access in corporate boardrooms. But increasingly, homeowners wanted to do more with their technology.

Intel is a large part of the reason PA Computer Connections is doing this, they’re the most channel-friendly vendor we’ve ever dealt with, and we’ve been an Intel Premier Provider since the program started. They’re constantly giving us insight into where the market is going, and they support us with the technology and solutions we need. They’ve provided us with a number of demo pieces of equipment for us to use, show and incorporate in our end-user solutions.

PA Computer Connections sees connectivity and communications becoming more important in the digital home of the future. From our insight into small and medium businesses—and even some large businesses—we see a lot of communication between the home and the office. Information needs to be centralized, whether it’s at the office or home, and the two needs to connect. That’s the biggest part of what we see coming—communications becoming part of the home itself.

Traditionally home-theater companies want nothing to do with computers. They even try to talk customers out of it, but today’s consumers know they can do a lot of this with the computer, and we feel that they’ll turn from these sources to alternate sources, once they realize we can deliver the entire digital home experience, from the screens on down.
